Macrobiotics is the application of ever-evolving life principles, that have been around since the beginning of time. As the world has become more globalized, and complex we are drifting further from a simple, natural way of life.
The earliest recorded use of the term “macrobiotics” from the Greek “macro” meaning “great”, or “long”, and “bios” meaning “life”. It’s found in the 4th century BC in ancient Greece in the writings of Hippocrates, who is considered the father of western medicine. So, a “great life” [who wouldn’t want that?].
Macrobiotics teaches that the quality of our health is primarily determined by our daily food choices “we literally are what we eat” as well as our activities and lifestyle. Each day – through lifestyle choices – we can create or lose our health. It is Not simply a “diet”, macrobiotic recognizes the profound effects of food, environment, activities and attitude all have on our body-mind-emotions.
